Best Baby Sling
There are several slings on the market today. The best baby sling will be the one that fits you comfortably and if you would rather use a ring or no ring to hold the sling in place.
Baby Slings and Carriers are a big support for Attachment Moms. Babies love to be held and close to their mom for comfort. This allows mom to have both hands free to do other things such as play puzzle games with older children, start lunch or dinner, or even do house chores such as laundry. Also baby slings and carriers allow you to nurse or breast feed in discreet while having your hands free once again.
Baby Slings and Breast Feeding
Native cultures around the world have found ways to “wear” their babies. Carrying a baby on your body in any type of carrier is considered “baby wearing.” Baby wearing has become extremely popular in westernized nations in the past few decades. One of the easiest ways to wear your baby is in a baby sling. Baby Slings are easy to get on and easy to use and easy to take with you. Breastfeeding in a baby sling is exceptionally easy and makes baby slings a must for breastfeeding moms!
One of the most precious gifts that you can give your baby is breast milk. And one of the easiest ways to really connect with your baby is breastfeeding. Yet I hear so many women talk about how challenging breastfeeding is in the beginning. It can be frustrating when latch on is painful, your baby wants to nurse all the time, you are tired from lack of sleep and you just can’t seem to get it right. I remember this well with my first son. I used a sling from very early on to give him the same cozy feeling as being in the womb but I also discovered very quickly how helpful the baby sling is with breastfeeding. I didn’t realize that my son was not latching on properly but breastfeeding was painful. My sons bum and legs were hanging down causing him to latch at an angle, which was making me have very sore nipples. Our baby sling helped get him into the proper position for breastfeeding. The sling kept his bum and legs lifted at the same angle as the rest of his body and allowed him to latch on properly with not a bit of pain or frustration. And it was so easy to get him into the proper position in the sling. Breastfeeding became a wonderful way for me to connect with my son and thanks to the sling it became easy and joyful.
Since that day I have shared my epiphany with many people. In fact, just about anyone that I run into that may be having breastfeeding problems I recommend the sling. One woman I know was so determined to breastfeed and so frustrated that she began to use a supplemental feeder to try helping her son with latch on while making sure he was getting enough. He did not want to latch on at all and she was so frustrated. She started using a sling to help connect with her son. She found the sling very easy to use and loved “wearing” her son but she hadn’t tried to breastfeed in it. One day while out, her son was rooting as if he wanted to breastfeed so she laid him down in the sling and he latched on. It was the first time that he had latched on all on his own. He was breastfeeding in the sling. And not long after that he was off the feeder al together and in the sling for breastfeeding. The sling was a wonderful way to connect as well as a very useful tool for breastfeeding.
Breastfeeding in public makes many women nervous. Trying to figure out how to breastfeed discreetly can be overwhelming. The sling makes life with a nursing baby so much easier. A baby sling really helps with public breastfeeding because it covers you and your baby and gives a little barrier between your baby and everyone near by. You can lay your baby down in the sling and it creates a pouch that covers everything. Most people think that you have a sleeping baby and don’t even take notice. Many slings have a tail that could also be used as an extra cover over the sling itself. The sling can give you the comfort and privacy to breastfeed anywhere. Slings fold down so that they can fit into a diaper bag or purse so they are easy to take anywhere. And babies are very easy to tote around in a sling so you can take your baby everywhere you go. This makes it even more convenient for breastfeeding because you don’t have to be far from your baby and your baby can breastfeed whenever they want.
Toddler Breastfeeding is an adventure in itself, however having a baby sling can make the joys of nursing a toddler even more rewarding. When babies are still breastfeeding as they get older they become extra wiggly!! They want to lift up shirts, touch faces and just be their usual toddler selves. The sling helps keep a toddler snug and cozy so they can take the time to breastfeed with out “flashing” you to the world. It also gives them a little peace and quiet to get down and busy breastfeeding without the usual distractions of everyday life. Having the baby sling allows many women the freedom to breastfeed their children for as long as they feel comfortable and as long as their baby wants to breastfeed without having to worry about public breastfeeding.
Baby slings have so many uses but I think one of the most important uses is breastfeeding. It can help get your baby comfortable and cozy and away from all the noise so they can get busy breastfeeding. A sling can help get them in the right position for breastfeeding. And slings allow you to have the freedom to breastfeed your baby discreetly wherever you go. A baby sling is an absolute must for a breastfeeding baby from newborn to toddler!
